My name is Tasha Turnbull and I have always been an active individual. In grade school, I performed in dance, gymnastics, basketball, and soccer. I have never been a small individual so sports helped to keep my weight within a reasonable range. However, when I went away to college I stopped participating in sports and the pounds came on instantaneously. My heaviest weight recorded was 235 pounds. Upon leaving college I told myself that this can not go on any longer. My blood pressure was rising and I started to develop back pain. I was not comfortable being at that weight and I noticed that I started hiding under my clothes. I did not wanna leave the house and I lived in sweat pants; even in the summer. I had to make some changes in the way I was living if I wanted to live a long, healthy life. I tried working out in the past but I never stuck with it long enough to lose the weight, so I felt it was virtually impossible that I would ever change my shape. I started exercising, weight training, and studying how to eat healthier and make better food choices. I discovered the key to losing weight was not to put myself on a diet, but to change the way I lived my life. I embraced a lifestyle that makes exercising and eating healthier a natural part of my daily routine; this is THE distinguishing factor between people who lose weight and those who maintain their weight loss over time. It took me 2 years to lose the weight and I can honestly say I am in the best shape than I have ever been.
